He Has Risen
When the women arrived back with their spices to anoint Jesus' body, his body was gone. Two angels appeared in front of them and confirmed that he had risen. The angels reminded the women that Jesus had predicted all this would happened to him. (Luke 24:6-7) The women went and told all the others what they had seen, but no one believed them. (Luke 24:11) Peter went to see for himself, and he found the tomb left just as they said. Two disciples were visited by Jesus while they were traveling on the road. They were confused and sad about everything that had happened. (Luke 24:21) They didn't understand that it had to happen, and it was apart of God's plan. But Jesus came and explained everything to them using scripture. (Luke 24:27) For us, the word is also our reminder. When you don't understand life, the word is your guide. Just like the angels came to remind the women what Jesus said, the bible can remind you of what Jesus said.
Jesus only showed himself to a select number of people. The Jewish leaders payed the guards money to tell everyone that the disciples stole Jesus' body while everyone was sleep, and this story spread among the Jews. (Matthew 28:13-15) So the people that didn't see Jesus after the resurrection probably had a hard time believing which story was true. Even to this very day, I'm sure that people still have a hard time believing what happened 2,000 years ago. The scriptures in the pages of our bibles may not be enough evidence for them.
For me, my life is evidence. My life is evidence that he rose on the third day. I didn't have to be there to believe that Jesus ascended into heaven or that his body wasn't in the tomb. The only evidence that I need is how he shows up for me every single day. How he makes a way out of no way. How he heals me in my brokeness. When you have trouble believing whether or not all of this "actually" happened, look at your life. Look at the people's lives around you, and you will see the work of God. Look at my life if you need to. Do whatever you have to do to keep believing, because your hope, and your believeth, is the one that you can't afford to lose in this season.
